In Russia, a significant decline in interest in flagship smartphones and a growing demand for budget smartphones are recorded. This was written in TASS with reference to the statements of retailers.

According to the source, since the beginning of 2022 – from January to March – the smartphone market in Russia has grown, by about 15% in monetary terms and by 1.5% in unit sales. However, in the nuances, everything is not at all the same as it was last year.

It turned out that in the first quarter of 2022, sales of flagship smartphones and interest in them fell significantly – in the category more expensive than 50 thousand rubles, now 30% fewer devices are sold. At the same time, people began to buy devices in the range of 20-40 thousand rubles almost 90% more often.

“The main trend of the first quarter of 2022 is the switching of Russian demand from premium smartphones to models of the middle price segment,” MTS representative

It is worth noting that the demand for premium models (more expensive than 50 thousand rubles) grew throughout 2021, but at the beginning of 2022 it dropped sharply. Experts attribute this to a sharp rise in the price of devices due to the unstable ruble exchange rate and the geopolitical situation. At the same time, Samsung smartphones took the first place in sales with a share of 33%, the second – Xiaomi and POCO with 25.8%, and the third Apple with 15.5%.

Earlier, we said that used smartphones began to be sold in Yandex.Market.
