Over time, the more research advances, the more the technology improves and the greater the risks. Nuclear weapons are among the dangers to which the world’s population is exposed. The Earth has 543 atmospheric tests out of 2,000 officially recorded explosions. The story mainly raised only the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs. However, other even more devastating explosions occurred successively before the end of the second millennium and more precisely, from the 1950s. Here is a list of nine devastating nuclear weapon explosions.

9. Ivy Mike

Ivy Mike is the pioneer of thermonuclear weapons. It is the first hydrogen bomb to have exploded perfectly. 1er November 1952, during the Korean War, an explosion with an intensity of 10.4 megatons was heard on the surface of Enewetak Atoll in the Marshall Islands. This weapon of American origin has 690 times more intensity than that of Hiroshima measured only at 15 kilotons. For political reasons, Ivy Mike eventually came into being as part of Operation Ivy under President Harry S. Truman.
