Hyper Light Drifter – since its release in 2016, the beautifully pixelated homage to Zelda, Diablo & Co. has been one of the great indie favorites of the recent past. Developer Heart Machine invested an incredible amount of passion in the art design and game world – tester Ben ennobled the switch version of Hyper Light Drifter with 87% fun.
After the light and airy 3D action platformer Solar Ash, the Californian studio is now returning to the brand that gave it its breakthrough: Hyper Light Breaker is the name of the successor, which was announced on the six-year anniversary of the debut. Instead of a pixelated top-down view, this time there is 3D graphics, although nothing can be seen in the stylish anime trailer yet. Only the screenshots that were released to the press at the same time as the unveiling allowed a first look at the actual look.
At IGN Game Director Alx Preston spoke a bit about the new project and emphasized the increased focus on RPG elements. Hyper Light Breaker is scheduled to go into Steam Early Access in spring 2023 and will not only be playable alone, but also online cooperatively.
