We regularly write about the convenient features of Apple technology related to the search for lost things. Our installer, known as Uncle Zhenya, shared the story of the lost and found AirPods Pro.
The plot is like this. Uncle Zhenya’s girlfriend lost her headphones along with the case. There was no certainty where exactly the headphones were lost, but the last time they were used was in a bar. Therefore, there was a hope that the headphones were left there, and one of the employees found them. They called the bar, explained the situation, but the administrator said that there were no headphones, no one saw them or found them.
After a while, the headphones were detected through the Locator application. There it was clear that they were running between the bar and the same address in the Moscow region. It looked like someone was riding to work and home with these headphones.
And the lost mode for AirPods Pro was active. In this case, when the headphones are connected to the iPhone, a notification is displayed with the contact details of the owner. However, this did not help, no one got in touch.
One fine day, Zhenya’s girlfriend was walking past that very place and received a notification on her phone that the headphones were somewhere nearby. She enters a bar with Zhenya, and there … But nothing happens there. The administrator says that they didn’t have any headphones, but it’s hard to argue with the phone – the application shows that the AirPods Pro are somewhere here.
The story ended with the fact that a couple of days later they called from the bar and said that they had found the headphones. So, a month later, AirPods Pro returned to their rightful owner.
A few years ago, I told a different story about how my wife’s AirPods were stolen in the hospital. The headphones were never found: this is not an iPhone that you can’t untie from iCloud so easily.
This story has a happy ending. It was lucky that the found headphones were not reset, otherwise they would not have been found. All Apple magic works exactly until the moment a new user learns about a simple procedure for resetting headphone data.
