iFixit tweeted a photo from the disassembly process of the new 5th generation iPad Air with M1 chip. As it turned out, Apple has made some changes to the fastening of the internal components of the device, which make it easier to repair.
iFixit noticed special tabs under the batteries of the new iPad Air, making it easier to detach them from the case. By comparison, previous iPad Air models had the batteries glued to the panel, typically requiring technicians to use a solvent to remove or replace them.
These tabs will also make battery replacement easier for third-party repair shops and users planning to do their own repairs.
In addition, this change in design will have a positive impact on the environment, as it will be easier for Apple’s recycling partners to remove the battery from the iPad’s aluminum case.
