Last Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on the possibility of full state funding of debut feature and documentary films of domestic production. The document appeared on the official portal of legal information.
Recall that earlier state funding of domestic films could not exceed 70% of its estimated cost. Now the law provides an opportunity for 100% state funding for the production and distribution of feature, documentary and animated films that are released by directors who have completed a course of study at specialized state higher educational institutions. Graduates can take advantage of state support within five years after receiving a certificate.
A similar opportunity is provided for documentaries, including popular science, unique copyright animation (in exceptional cases, taking into account the artistic and cultural significance of the project) and other films.
