Want a stupid, stupid, harmless technical prank to play on someone this April 1st? Set the brand new Windows Black Screen of Death (BSOD) error screen as your computer screensaver!

This trick works on both Mac and Windows, and is perhaps even more fun on a Mac since, well, a Mac is unlikely to run Windows, thereby giving unsuspecting targets a pause – they’ve entered another dimension. where do all macs run windows? No, it’s just an April Fool’s joke.

All you have to do is save a screenshot of the Windows 11 Black Screen Of Death image locally on your computer and set it as your photo splash screen image.

Here is the image:

Black Screen of Death Windows 11

Save this image to a folder on Mac with just this image.

You can then set this image as your screen saver on Mac by going to System Preferences > Desktop & Screen Saver > Screen Saver > Classic > set the folder where you saved the BSOD image.

Now, whenever the screensaver is activated on the Mac, it will display the Windows 11 black screen of death (which replaced the famous Windows blue screen of death in Windows 11, and here comes some major innovation).

It’s like setting a screenshot as a screensaver, which is also fun and harmless.

And don’t worry, we’ve been covering silly April Fool’s pranks in tech and computers for years now, if this particular prank doesn’t work for you, you’ll most likely find one that does.
