In 2020, when Gallup asked that question right before the start of the pandemic, a record-high 90 percent of Americans answered yes. Now, somewhat astonishingly, despite high inflation, Omicron and the dead of winter, Gallup received an 85 percent “yes” response when they asked the question again Jan. 3-16.
