Obesity has long been thought to be a genetic condition. Is it, however, genetics that are to blame, or is it the lifestyle that is to blame? This has been clarified by researchers from the University of Bristol and Imperial College London. The research was published in the journal ‘BMC Medicine.’ The researchers discovered that a mother’s high BMI during and during pregnancy is not a major source of high BMI in her kids, implying that childhood and adolescent obesity is more likely to be caused by lifestyle factors.
