E3 2022 has been officially canceled and will therefore not take place in person or in digital form this year.
As the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) has officially announced, E3 2022 will not take place in person or in digital form. At the same time, the organization promised that the popular gaming showcase event would return stronger in 2023:
“We will focus all of our energy and resources on delivering a revitalized physical and digital E3 experience next summer. Whether in person or on your favorite devices, Showcase 2023 will bring the community, media and industry together in a new format and in the form of an interactive experience.”
“We look forward to bringing E3 2023 fans around the world live from Los Angeles.”
After E3 2020 was completely canceled due to the global COVID-19 pandemic and E3 2021 only took place digitally for the same reason, E3 2022 is the third event in a row that is not taking place regularly.
Originally, the games fair was supposed to take place on site for the first time this year. However, this plan was scrapped in January this year due to the risk that still existed. However, holding it in digital form was still an issue until now.
