A Howl’s Mausoleum in Elden Ring is a special location in the game world.
Mausoleums take the form of a four-legged creature made entirely of stone, some with a central bell that chimes as they move.
There are a total of seven mausoleums in Elden Ring, and they only stomp around within a small area, making locations great to narrow down.

What are the mausoleums in Elden Ring for?
- They are used to duplicate the echoes received from the main bosses in order to be able to collect more than one reward per echo (from Fingerreader Enia in the Tablet of Mercy).
- For this you have to stop the mausoleum (see below), open the gate, enter it and click on the altar.
- You must find the echo to be duplicated not have in inventory. It is enough if you have defeated the corresponding boss. However, you can only copy one echo per mausoleum.
- You cannot get a weapon you already own (at least in the same run) with duplicate echoes.
- Don’t let the mausoleums trample you. One hit is enough to empty an entire life bar.
Mausoleum on the Peninsula of Tears
This mausoleum roams west of the Peninsula of Tears, west of the Lesser Earth Tree and northeast of the Departed Merchant’s Hut.
This same merchant also sells a note with a hint to the mausoleum’s weak point: you have to remove the white, skull-shaped deposits on its feet by hitting them.
If enough deposits are removed, the mausoleum comes to a standstill and “settles down”. You can then enter it.
Mausoleum 1 in East Liurnia
The first mausoleum in Liurnia lingers northeast of the Academy of Raya Lucaria, pretty much in front of the entrance to the Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnels.
To enter it, you have to look west of it on the rock face for a spirit spring and use it to jump on your horse when the mausoleum is close enough.
This may take a few tries. Jump towards the mausoleum and wait in the air for as long as possible with the horse’s double jump. This is necessary to land at the top.
Smash enough of the white debris on the building and it will eventually come to a halt.
Mausoleum 2 in East Liurnia
Another specimen can be found north, slightly north-east of the Church of Vows. Nearby is the place of mercy “Ruins of the Labyrinth”. From there it is only a short hop to the mausoleum.
It will defend itself against the unwanted foot treatment by jumping up and powerfully stomping the ground, knocking you away (at best, you’re mud at worst).
Remove enough debris and you’ll see the mausoleum begin to crumble. Note: Here you can only duplicate echoes that do not come from fragment carriers.
Mausoleum 3 in East Liurnia
Not far away from the third mausoleum you will find the next one. Just ride north a bit past the intricately crafted statues.
The mausoleum stomps around north of the “Mausoleum Grounds” place of mercy and can be moved in the usual way to stop. Note: Here you can only duplicate echoes that do not come from fragment carriers.
Mausoleum on the mountain top of the giants
If you’ve already been to Sol Castle, you don’t have to go far to this mausoleum. It tramples through the snow right in front of the castle.
It’s not particularly noticeable, so pound on the legs and clear them of debris until the mausoleum settles to rest.
Mausoleum in Hallowed Snowfield
For this mausoleum you need access to the Sacred Snowfield (that is, to the west side of the mountaintop of the giants), which you get with the Secret Haligbaum medallion.
The mausoleum lingers to the north, right next to the Decaying Ruins of the Apostates.
Extreme caution is required here: it will constantly fire spells at you, making approaching it much more difficult than it needs to be. If you miss it once in the Decaying Ruins, you can just use fast travel.
Mausoleum in the depths of Deeproot
The final mausoleum is in the depths of Deeproot, an underground area that you can reach after the aqueduct at Siofra by climbing into the coffin after the Brave Gargoyle.
It tramples around in the north of the area and can only be tamed by riding onto a giant root right next to it and jumping over with your horse from there.
