Arminia Bielefeld’s Swiss defender Cédric Brunner was carried off after a clash of heads in their Bundesliga game at Wolfsburg on Saturday. A club statement said he was conscious and had been taken to hospital. Panicked Bielefeld players quickly summoned medical teams after Brunner fell to the floor after an aerial challenge with Jonas Wind. He received care for some minutes and was then stretchered off the pitch and given warm applause by both sets of supporters. Just last weekend, Bielefeld forward Fabian Klos sustained a serious head injury in the draw with Stuttgart and needed surgery.
