Guild Wars 2 returns on April 19, 2022 with Flame and Frost, the first part of Living World Season 1. This content was last playable in 2013. The developers have now made it clear that it will not be 1:1 like it was then.
If you didn’t play Guild Wars 2 in 2013, you missed some story content that is no longer found in the game. This so-called first season of Living World was part of a constantly changing game world – unlike the modern seasons of Living World, which are composed of repeatable instances and new areas. This is of course stupid for everyone who joined after 2013. Characters like Braham, Rox, Scarlet & Co. say little to you because the corresponding missions are no longer in the game. However, the new roadmap for 2022 has revealed the return of the Living World.
Changes to the first season of Living World in GW2
On April 19, 2022, we’ll regain access to the beginning of the story of the Fiery Alliance of Flame Legion and Dredge in the form of the episode “Flame and Frost”. The developers have now explained what they are changing when this content returns. So the whole thing will have a linear character with a fixed order of instances (back then, content could be approached independently).
Arenanet’s “storytelling standard” has also changed. The developers say: “So we took this opportunity to revise some of the older text and add some background books to Episode 1 to meet our current standards and characterization needs.” (via arenanet)
On top of that, the April 19 update will also bring the first challenge mode for the Strikes in End of Dragons. The Aetherblade Lair is thus optionally made more difficult as the first attack mission. Are you more looking forward to this challenge mode or the return of the Living World? Write us in the comments!
