Yesterday, Paramount announced the third season of their Star Trek series Picard will also be the final season of the series. In connection with the news of the third season, a short teaser was also released where several of the characters from Star Trek: The Next Generation participates.

It is the TNG characters Geordi La Forge (LeVar Burton), Worf (Michael Dorn) and Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden) who look forward to meeting their old captain Jean-Luc Picard in the series’ third and final season. Picards producer Terry Matalas says about the reunion of the old TNG gang:

“I remember watching the premiere of Star Trek: The Next Generation almost 34 years ago with my father like it was yesterday. It was the spark that ignited my love for science fiction. So, it’s most fitting that the story of Jean-Luc Picard ends honoring the beginning, with his dearest and most loyal friends from the USS Enterprise. It would be an understatement to say that giving these characters a proper send-off is an honor. The entire Star Trek: Picard team and I can not wait for fans to experience this final, high-stakes, starship-bound adventure in season three! “

When we can see the third season of Picard there is so far no information on. In the US, the second season of the series began airing on Paramount + a few weeks ago. Here in Sweden, however, there is neither the first nor the second season on Paramount +. However, you can watch the first season on Amazon Prime Video in Sweden.

The next chapter in Picard’s life

Earlier this year, we found out that the Star Trek: Discovery creator is working on a bunch of Star Trek series and one of these would be about Jean-Luc Picard, who was played by Patrick Stewart in Star Trek: The Next Generation. Now Stewart has confirmed via Twitter that he will return as the famous captain in a brand new series that will deal with a new chapter in Picard’s life. Stewart says that there is currently no script for the new Star Trek series, so it will be a while before we get to see more of Picard in the future. The series will be broadcast on the streaming service CBS Access in the US and we are keeping our fingers crossed that Netflix will pick up the global rights for the upcoming series. Teaser for S02 by Star Trek: Picard

The next season of the Star Trek spin-off will appear next year

There are few things I love as much as when Patrick Stewart plays Jean-Luc Picard. Therefore, it was extra nice when the Picard series was created, even if it was a little too uneven to constantly give total euphoria. But soon it may be when the second season of the series is on its way to Paramount + next year. This season, John de Lancie will return as Q, which will probably give Jean-Luc a little extra headache. You can check out the teaser in its entirety in the tweet below.
