If you really want to discover every secret in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, you have to keep an eye on the walls and the map at every step. In the areas of the Borderlands spinoff, some secret entrances are hidden in walls.
When it comes to “Illusory Walls”, i.e. normal-looking walls that hide secret entrances, most role-playing players will certainly immediately think of the Dark Souls series or, most recently, the Elden Ring. In the latter work by From Software there are even particularly stubborn ones Secret walls that you have to hit almost 50 times. Mean!
Illusory Walls – almost as old as video games
In fact, such well-hidden access points in walls have long been part of the developer’s basics. We would think of 1983’s The Dungeon as an early example for the Atari. But also classics like Eye of the Beholder, Wolfenstein, Zelda, the King’s Field series from From Software and many more. Some of these secret entrances are clearly visible, some can only be found by running, rolling, hitting or shooting against the spot.
A thousand and one allusions
A freshly released game has apparently made it its mission to honor all sorts of classic games, pop culture and much more with Easter eggs, allusions and references. We mean, of course, the Borderlands spinoff Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, which we’ve been having a lot of fun with so far.
Some may now raise their eyebrows in dismay or even moan from the painful memory of hour-long tapping sessions, because you already suspect it: Tiny Tina has also hidden some secret passages behind Illusory Walls in her game (via kotaku). You can only recognize the corresponding places by the fact that they are highlighted with a slightly golden spark, which can only be seen up close.
The good news: A melee attack is enough to clear the path. Also a (small) help: The secret passages are shown on the map as a walkable area. So if you’re approaching a dead end, but the map says otherwise, then there might be a secret entrance in front of you, hiding a lucky dice, for example.
