The trial of a 38-year-old suspected of having joined the Islamic State group in Syria began in Hamburg on Wednesday. Prosecutors say the German-Iranian woman travelled to Syria in the summer of 2014 and joined a female combat unit of the terrorist militia. She is charged with membership in a foreign terrorist group. She allegedly followed her husband into Islamic State territory with her daughter, who was 3 at the time, and her son, who was almost 1.
