Konami’s attempt to realign the former Pro Evolution Soccerseries on the free-to-play title eFootball 2022 finally closer to the big competitors FIFA approaching it went horribly wrong last September. According to the website Steam 250 eFootball even managed to be the lowest rated game on the Steam platform shortly after its release. The meanwhile more than 28,000 “very negative” ratings still speak a clear language today, even if the football game now only occupies second place in the “Hall of Shame”.
What happened? Basically, Konami released a half-finished, barely playable demo version with few features and lots of bugs, angering fans. But Konami promised improvement. This should now come with version 1.0.0, which is to be published on April 14th. In a very detailed statement on the game’s official website, the Japanese developer apologizes and lists the upcoming improvements.
We were so focused on getting the game out on schedule that we lost sight of what was most important – the quality. Consequently, it rained criticism from rightly disappointed fans. Since then, the development team has been working tirelessly to win back the trust of our valued fans and make the game all the better for football fans around the world. Six months after the initial release last September, we believe we’ve reached a level of quality that we’re happy with. Hence the decision to release v1.0.0.
But you don’t want to rest on your laurels afterwards, but constantly try to keep improving the game. Thanks to the free-to-play model, you can try out for yourself whether eFootball version 1.0.0 or higher is actually in good condition. The details of the changes can be found in the source.
