At MTS noted decline in sales of smartphones in the price category from 50 thousand rubles and above. Experts report that in March 2022, the demand for such devices fell by 30% on a unit basis.

At the same time, sales of smartphones costing from 20 to 40 thousand rubles in the first quarter increased by 90% compared to the same period last year.

In general, the domestic market in the same period grew by 15% in monetary terms and by 1.5% in unit terms, the company explained. In total, 6.5 million smartphones worth 177 billion rubles were sold in the first quarter.

The decrease in demand for expensive mobile devices is associated with a rise in the price of smartphones due to exchange rate volatility and an increase in consumer demand for other goods, experts say.

The first place in terms of the number of devices sold in the first three months of 2022 was taken by Samsung – its share was 33%. In second place is Xiaomi with a sub-brand Poco and 25.8%. On the third Apple with a share of 15.5%. The top five also included Realme with 8.3% and Honor with 3.5%. In monetary terms, Apple leads with a 42% share of the Russian market, Samsung with 28.2% and Xiaomi with 15.8%. The fourth and fifth places are occupied by Realme with 4.5% and Honor with 3.4%.
