According to current reports, Codemasters has decided to scale back the role of supercars in “F1 2022” a little at the request of Formula One management. In addition, there is talk that crossplay support will only follow after the launch of the racing game.
Even if the official announcement of “F1 2022” is still a long way off, it is certain that we will also be given the official racing game for the current F1 season this year.
A few days ago, the usually well-informed industry insider Tom Henderson circulated the first unconfirmed details and reported that “F1 2022” will be without last year’s story mode. According to Henderson, the story mode should be replaced by supercars that can be used in both single and multiplayer. A design decision with which the Formula One management was obviously anything but satisfied.
As Henderson now reports, the role of supercars is to be reduced at the request of Formula One management. According to the insider, the supercars will only be available in single player or in the time trials. In multiplayer, on the other hand, you have to do without the new additions.
Crossplay support later than planned?
According to unconfirmed reports, planned crossplay support for online multiplayer has also changed internally. As Henderson would like to know here, this is still planned, but will only be available after the release of “F1 2022”. The same should apply to individual routes such as Portimao (Algarve International Circuit) or China (Shanghai International Circuit), which also do not make it to the release in “F1 2022” and will only be submitted at a later date.
More news on the subject:
Finally, it is said that “F1 2022” will be based on its predecessors in terms of gameplay and will bring the gameplay features known from previous years – including the familiar handling of Formula 1 cars, the penalty system, the career mode or “MyTeam”.
Electronic Arts and the developers of Codemasters have not yet wanted to comment on or even confirm Tom Henderson’s statements.
