The Hungarian electoral commission reported turnout for Sunday’s parliamentary elections at 40% by 1 pm (1100 GMT). The figure was 2.3 percentage points lower than in 2018 at the same time. In that election, turnout ended up at 70%. Incumbent Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s Fidesz party won 49% of the vote, and just over two-thirds of the 199 parliamentary seats under Hungary’s electoral system.
