Windows Central reports that Microsoft has opened up a new Android division to make it easier and more efficient for Microsoft to develop software for Android products. The division brings together teams for, among others, Surface Duo OS, SwiftKey, Phone Link, Microsoft Launcher and a handful of other of Microsoft’s internal Android teams.
This new division will be led by Ali Akgun, who previously handled Microsoft’s Surface devices. Whether this merger will have any major impact on us end customers remains to be seen.
