German Finance Minister Christian Lindner says Russia is facing “painful” sanctions as a result of its attack on Ukraine. “There will be very painful restrictions in bilateral relations, especially economic relations,” Lindner said. “The nightmare [of another war in Europe] has now become a sad reality,” he said. “The Kremlin bears responsibility for this; Vladimir Putin bears responsibility for this,” he said, referring to the Russian president.
