The Russian city of St Petersburg will be stripped of hosting the May 28 Champions League final at an emergency UEFA executive committee meeting on Friday, sources have told dpa. The meeting was called after Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine but a new host is not expected to be announced. The last two seasons also saw changes of hosts of the showpiece match, both owing to the coronavirus pandemic.
