A man who carried out a notorious kidnapping in Germany 25 years ago appeared in court in Cologne on Tuesday, charged in connection with four armed robberies. Thomas Drach greeted his lawyers with a fist salute, then talked to them. He initially turned his back on photographers present. An alleged accomplice, who is a co-defendant in the case, had entered the courtroom earlier. Drach is well known in Germany.
